Well, I also thought Yokai Watch, in all but the actual battles, was way better than pokemon. Someone else said it above, this is better than Pokemon for me. It's fun to find the new towns, meet a few oddballs and mostly find new monsties. I turned it off after about 15 hours and am enjoying just the sparse sound effects.Īctual story is charming but whatever. Only complaint so far is that the music is pretty grating and cliche. If they have a Switch sequel that looks like the intro movie. I think simplifying the elements made this the best looking MH for me. I finally see the appeal of the MH art style. Obvi this isnt a huge open world, but the world does feel pretty massive and all the warp points are great. But this game lets you have pretty free range of flight. Before Zelda game out I was sure you were gonna be able to fly a loftwing around a some point. They also did something I really thought Nintendo was going to pull off in BotW but didnt. In a lot of ways this feels like Breath of the Wild, if BotW was more focused on mounts and the armor crafting applied to crazy ass weapons as well. Game is good at easing you into all the systems and Im starting to see the depth you need to take down the big bads. Ive put in 20 hours and dont see myself stopping anytime soon. This game fixes all of that and has me hooked. You know the story complex, deep, overwhelming, etc. I own 3 normal Monster Hunter games and never got more than a few hours into any of them.
Just had to come in and gush about this game.
